Ronni L. Gordon, PhD, is a well-known author of foreign language textbooks, reference books, and multimedia courses. She is vice president of Mediatheque Publisher Services, a leader in the development of foreign language instructional materials. She holds a PhD in Spanish language and Spanish and Spanish American literature from Rutgers University, and has taught and coordinated Spanish language programs and taught Latin American literature at Harvard University, Boston University, Cornell, and Drexel University. A foreign language consultant, she has read for the National Endowment for the Humanities, presented at the United States Department of Education, consulted on states' K-12 academic standards for world languages and presented at conferences on Spanish American literature and foreign language instruction. She is an associate scholar of a Philadelphia-based think tank and is chairman of the board of directors of Dolce Suono Ensemble.
David M. Stillman, PhD, is a well-known writer of foreign langauge textbooks, reference books, and multimedia courses. He is president of Mediatheque Publisher Services, a leader in the development of foreign language instructional materials. He holds a PhD in Spanish linguistics from the University of Illinois, and has taught and coordinated foreign language programs at Boston University, Harvard, and Cornell. He teaches languages and linguistics and coordinates an innovative program of student-led conversation practice at The College of New Jersey. The best book in its category (but 100s of formatting errors on Kindle)

IMPORTANT:
Since my original review I discovered that the Kindle version of this book has hundreds of pieces of material missing, due to formatting errors. You can search the document for the word "image" to see where all the missing pieces should be.
The paperback is fantastic. The Kindle edition is badly defective. Hopefully it will be fixed someday.

I have been teaching Spanish and French for over 15 years. I own many, many Spanish textbooks and write curriculum for language learners.
This book is excellent! I use it as a textbook for classes at several levels of proficiency. I buy copies by the carton now.
This book is well-written and carefully edited. So many popular textbooks I have tried to use have typos, obvious grammatical errors and even non-existent words. My native-speaker employees have also found that many Spanish textbooks contain very non-native language. This book, by contrast, is a reliable model for students.

I first checked out an earlier version of this product from my library and I liked it so much that I bought this version. The book provides a solid grammar foundation and the CD is good for practicing in the car.

The Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice book and CDs a winning combo

I had been using the terrific book The Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice: Mastering Spanish Grammar for Confident Communication to brush up on my Spanish when the The Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice, CD Edition came on the market. I made great progress studying Spanish grammar and practicing it in the exercises in the book, but with the supplementary audio exercises on the two CDs I was also able to practice my skills of understanding and speaking. I like the format of the interactive audio exercises and greatly appreciate the English explanations and model sentences. Unlike other audio programs I've tried, this one gives me plenty of time to respond before the correct answer is heard. I like to do the audio drills without looking at the listening guide, but it's reassuring to know that if I don't understand something I hear I can look it up. The dictations are very helpful to me too.
The Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice book and CDs are easy to use together because the book and audio listening guide are coordinated so that chapter and page numbers match up. I know my skills have improved using them, and I feel much more confident about using Spanish in the workplace, with my friends, and when I travel.
